Omg y’all when I tell u this place is so outstanding five stars isn’t good enough my daughter went here for the first time for vision therapy and all I can say is awesome!! I mean the doctor really takes care of these children she actually cares my daughter kept getting denied glasses because she can see 20/20 vision near and far but her muscles are weak and her eyes tend to wonder sometimes but this doctor doesn’t just give u glasses when u can’t see she also gives u glasses when the child don’t use both of their eyes together at the same time I have never seen my baby smile soooo big when she told her she was getting glasses it’s like her self esteem jumped to 200% I was soo happy if u need a vision center this is the one guarantee 100%%%%% I love them from the doctors to the staff very amazing people and atmospheric ❤️💕💕💕💕

My son did vision therapy here. His prism glasses and the therapy were an incredible benefit to his ability to perceive his surroundings fully due to being born with physical disabilities. Amazing progress for able bodied kids too & their academic & cognitive development + penmanship. Never knew this valuable resource was available!

About Us

Plano was established in 1959 by Dr. Robert L. Johnson (deceased) and Dr. Henry R. Moore (deceased) as a multi-discipline, not-for-profit optometric service organization and chartered in 1965 as Plano Child Development Center.

Plano became a not-for-profit organization [501(c)3] in 1976. Plano’s mission is to identify, evaluate and treat economically disadvantaged children who have under-developed and/or inefficient vision information processing systems.

Plano is unique in the Midwest, in that it offers the community, particularly the central city, a wide array of services heretofore unavailable.  Plano is the only not-for-profit African American service provider offering comprehensive vision therapy treatment intervention to patients in the Chicagoland area.

Dr. Stephanie R. Johnson-Brown is Executive Director.
