About Us

Hunterdon Family Eye Care is a multi-disciplinary optometric practice, offering adult and pediatric vision care, in a warm, caring environment. Our office has been serving the Hunterdon County community for over fifteen years, and has built a reputation for providing excellent routine, behavioral and medical vision care.

The office has state-of-the-art imaging equipment for the diagnosis and treatment of eye disease. We currently perform diagnostic testing for glaucoma, macular degeneration and various other ocular conditions. Many ocular diseases are treated here in the office.

Hunterdon Vision Therapy Center, LLC provides vision therapy for learning-related vision issues, traumatic brain injury and stroke rehabilitation.

Dr. Sinoway is a lifelong resident of New Jersey. He graduated from Emory University in 1976 with a B.A. in Political Science, and then attended law school at the University of Miami, graduating with a JD degree in 1979 and a Masters degree in Estate Planning in 1980.


Dr. Sinoway received his B.S. in Biology from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1987. In 1990, he earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He then completed externships in pediatrics, contact lenses, and low vision. After graduation, he practiced as an associate in Somerville, New Jersey and Allentown, Pennsylvania for five years until starting Hunterdon Family Eye Care in 1995. Dr. Sinoway was inducted into the Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society in 1989. He traveled to Mexico in 1990, and with other optometrists and specialists, provided routine and medical eye care to indigent residents in a rural region of Mexico.  


Dr. Sinoway is married, with two children raised in Hunterdon County. He is a life-long tennis player who also very much enjoys hiking, biking, and traveling with his wonderful wife.

Dr. Laurenzi is originally from Bucks and Montgomery counties outside of Philadelphia. She graduated with a B.S in Biology and Spanish from the University of Scranton in 2004. After graduating from Scranton, she attended the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University in Elkins Park, PA where she received a B.S in Vision Science and Doctor of Optometry degree in 2009.


Dr. Laurenzi moved to Hunterdon County soon after graduation in 2009 to begin a residency program at the VA Medical Center at Lyons and East Orange, NJ through SUNY College of Optometry in New York.


After completing residency in 2010, Dr. Laurenzi worked at an ophthalmology practice in Phillipsburg, NJ. Here she strengthened her knowledge of cornea and ocular disease. She has been with Hunterdon Family Eye Care since 2012.


Dr. Laurenzi enjoys spending time with her husband and two small children.

Dr. Freed-Gilvey is an Optometric Physician licensed by the New Jersey State Board of Optometrists in the treatment and management of ocular diseases and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry. She is an active member of the American Optometric Association, the New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians and the New Jersey Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired.


Dr. Freed-Gilvey attended Rutgers University where she studied Pre-Medical/Pre-Veterinary Science. She went on to earn her O.D. from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia, where she graduated with honors in both Therapeutic and Ocular Disease Management and Low Vision Therapy.


Her training included internships in Pediatrics at The Eye Institute in Philadelphia, Ocular Disease Treatment and Management at Lyons Veterans Administration Center in Lyons, NJ, as well as Comprehensive Low Vision Care at Lighthouse International in Manhattan and the William Feinbloom Low Vision Center in Philadelphia. Dr. Freed-Gilvey is a Therapeutic Optometrist with comprehensive training in the diagnosis and medical management of ocular diseases including cataracts, macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, iritis, conjunctivitis, and dry eye. She also performs pediatric exams and specialty contact lens fittings.


Dr. Freed-Gilvey is married and has three children. Her hobbies include hiking, vegetable gardening, and baking.
