VisualEyes of the Palm Beaches: Debra A. Shim, OD, PA

Dr. Debra Shim, originally from Jamaica and raised in Miami, is a distinguished optometrist and a trailblazer as a first-generation college graduate. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Florida International University before pursuing her optometric degree at Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry, graduating in 1998. Dr. Shim is the dedicated founder of Visual Eyes of the Palm Beaches and has been serving the community as an eye care expert for over 26 years, focusing on vision therapy and specialty contact lenses.

A Fellow of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development, Dr. Shim is also an active member of the Florida State and local Optometric Associations. Her professional accolades include running her own optometric practice for 23 years, where she goes above and beyond to meet her patients' visual needs, earning their trust and becoming an integral part of their families.

Outside of her professional life, Dr. Shim is happily married and the proud mother of a bright and active son, Andrew. Together, they enjoy trips to the beach and traveling, cherishing the time spent as a family. Dr. Shim also indulges in hobbies such as fine dining, theatre, golfing, and playing pickleball.

Dr. Shim’s commitment to her profession and community is reflected in her deep passion for providing exemplary care, making her a beloved and trusted figure in optometry.

Dr. Tatiana Mastriano’s journey into optometry was inspired by her own eye care experience. After developing a lazy eye at age 10, she underwent vision therapy and surgery—an experience that shaped her dream to become an optometrist. Today, she brings that same empathy and passion to her patients at  VisualEyes of the Palm Beaches in Jupiter. 

Dr. Mastriano is a South Florida native who graduated high school at 17, earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida by 19, and became a Doctor of Optometry at just 23 after completing her studies at Nova Southeastern University. Her areas of interest include Primary Eye Care, Contact Lenses, and Ocular Disease. 

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Mastriano is an ocean lover and environmental advocate who enjoys boating, cleaning waterways, and educating the public at events like Miami Riverday. She also loves watercolor painting, baking, and spending time with her husband (a high school sweetheart), and their two beloved pups—a yellow lab and a whippet.
