    Dr. Sharon L. Snider, Developmental Optometrist, received her doctorate from the University of Alabama in Birmingham School of Optometry in 1983.  She holds board certification with the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD). Her practice, Snider Therapy Centers, Inc., is unique, as it is the only practice in the state of Alabama specializing in the field of Neuro-Visual Rehabilitation.  Therapies provided include developmental Vision Therapy, Sensory LearningTM, Neuro-optometric Rehabilitation, Auditory Integration Training, Ocular Phototherapy, Interactive Metronome, and Sports Vision Enhancement. Visual skills disorders are often misdiagnosed as ADD/ADHD or as dyslexia.  However, using neuro-visual rehabilitative therapy, success rates in the 85 to 99 percentile range have routinely been achieved.  Dr. Snider has worked with children with learning-related vision disorders since 1992, and this population still remains the predominant portion of her practice.  Additional patient populations benefiting from the therapies provided by Snider Therapy Centers, Inc. include:

    I would highly recommend Snider Therapy. They are a HUGE asset to this community. My son just graduated from their in-office vision therapy and will continue on with home therapy. They helped him overcome one of the hardest physical setbacks imaginable after suffering a number of strokes. He benefited greatly from the ocular phototherapy and vision therapy they provided. Before we found Snider Therapy my son had completed physical, occupational and speech therapies. They had helped but only to a certain point. Snider Therapy did a neuro-visual assessment, and a brain gauge, so helpful for a brain trauma victim. They didn't give us false hope about their process but to us it WAS hope! And it was successful! My son regained so much of his visual fields that it is nothing short of a miracle! It was hard work and he did have to apply himself but without their knowledge and resources he would not be where he is today. Bonus - everyone in that office is a super sweet and helpful!
