Richard S. Casden, MD, FAAO
Dr. Richard S. Casden is a distinguished ophthalmologist renowned for his expertise in cataract surgery and intraocular lens implantation. Currently serving as the Medical Director of the Wilton Ambulatory Surgical Center in Wilton, CT, Dr. Casden has left an indelible mark on Danbury's medical landscape by introducing cutting-edge technologies to the community.
His pioneering spirit is exemplified by his achievement as the first ophthalmologist to perform YAG laser surgery for post-cataract patients at Danbury Hospital. Dr. Casden's mastery extends to Advanced Technology Intraocular Lenses (ATIOL), where he has played a pivotal role as one of the seven ophthalmologists in Connecticut to successfully implant the first multifocal intraocular lenses following FDA approval in 1998.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dr. Casden's dedication to philanthropy is evident through his humanitarian work. He has provided essential ophthalmic care to indigent patients in Haiti at the Hospital Albert Schweitzer. Additionally, he has served on the Advisory Board of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and as Physician Chairman of the Development Fund Project at Danbury Hospital.

A graduate with honors from The New England College of Optometry, Dr. Mitchell received her Doctor of Optometry degree. Committed to global eye care, Dr. Mitchell is an active member of Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH), dedicating her time to international optometric mission work, particularly in the Dominican Republic. Michelle L. White, MD
Dr. Michelle L. White is a board-certified ophthalmologist focusing on anterior segment disorders, cataracts, cornea transplant surgery, and laser vision correction. Dr. White’s journey in medicine began at Drexel University College of Medicine, where she earned her medical degree and later served as Chief Resident during her ophthalmology residency training.
Driven by a passion for understanding the intricacies of the cornea, Dr. White pursued a research fellowship at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, delving into cutting-edge corneal advancements. Further honing her skills, she completed a clinical cornea fellowship at the esteemed Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia.
