Our Team
Tyler Mills, O.D., F.A.A.O.
Dr. Tyler graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in Biology in 2007. He completed his Doctor of Optometry at The Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University where he earned clinical honors.
During this time, he rotated through the Baltimore Veteran’s Hospital and attended regular lectures at the prestigious Wilmer Eye Hospital. He then completed a residency specializing in ocular disease at the Wilmington Delaware Veteran’s Hospital. There he managed a large amount eye disease including glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, and cataracts.
Dr. Tyler earned his fellowship with the American Academy of Optometry in 2013, a distinction less than 10 percent of optometrists in the country achieve.
Dr. Tyler, Megan (his wife), and their daughters live in Haddonfield. In his free time, he enjoys watching Philadelphia sports, spending time with his wife and daughter, trying new restaurants, and spending time at the shore.
Professional interests include myopia control/orthokeratology, glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, dry eye syndrome, and uveitis.
Dr. Tyler sees patients at our Collingswood, Marlton, and Medford locations.
Elaina Nellis, O.D.
Dr. Nellis received her undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Elizabethtown College in Elizabethtown, PA. After graduation, she attended the State University of New York College of Optometry, where she earned her Doctor of Optometry.
While working toward her doctorate, she was a member of the International Optometry Honors Society, Beta Sigma Kappa, and received awards for high scholastic and clinical achievement, including the American Academy of Optometry Foundation/VSP Practice Excellence Award, and the Dr. William M. Eisenberg Memorial Award for Outstanding Excellence in Ocular Disease. After graduation, she served as an optometrist at Austin Ryan Optika in New York before working at Advanced Vision Consultants.
Dr. Nellis was originally from Clinton Corner, NY, and moved to Mount Laurel, NJ, with her husband Matt and daughter Mia. She met her husband while running distance for Elizabethtown College’s cross country and track teams, and still actively enjoys long runs, hiking, and all things outdoors.
Professional interests include diabetic retinopathy, treating and managing glaucoma, pre-and post-operative cataracts, and contact lens fittings.
Dr. Nellis serves patients at our Marlton and Medford locations.
Anthony Starr, O. D.
A New Jersey native, Dr. Starr graduated with honors from Monmouth University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He then went of to earn a Masters Degree in Biomedical Sciences at Rowan Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. Dr. Starr then attended Nova Southeastern University where he earned his Doctorate of Optometry and an additional bachelor degree in Vision Science.
Dr. Starr completed his externships in Ocular Disease at Fort Lauderdale Eye Institute, Eye Centers of South Florida, and The NSU Eye Care Institute. In addition he worked in speciality departments including; Advanced Care Glaucoma, Dry Eye Management, Retina, as well as Cornea and Contact lenses, receiving honors within each specialty.
While at Nova Southeastern, Dr. Starr also conducted research and presented his scientific poster at SECO in March of 2023 pertaining to the use of advanced imaging modalities.
He is a member of the American Optometric Association as well as the New Jersey Optometric Association. Dr. Starr’s professional interests include dry eye management, glaucoma diagnosis and management, geriatrics, as well as primary eye care.
Dr. Starr sees patients at our Medford and Marlton locations.
Alisha Kothari, O.D.
Dr. Alisha attended Fordham University’s Manhattan campus, where she completed her degree in Natural Science. She then went on to earn her Doctor of Optometry at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
During her time in Optometry school, Dr. Alisha received Clinical Honors in each rotation. These included Sports Vision/Vision Therapy, Pediatrics, Speciality Contact Lenses, and Disease Management.
Originally from South Jersey, Dr. Alisha is happy to be back home to be able to spend time with her local friends, family, and dog, Mili. She loves cooking, baking, and finding new favorite spots to eat. She’s also happy to be back in the neighborhood to continue supporting her favorite Philly sports teams.
Professional interests include Sports Vision/Vision Therapy, Pediatrics, and Ocular Disease Management.
Dr. Alisha sees patients at our Marlton and Collingswood locations.
Ferne Sandler, O.D.
Dr. Ferne is a native of Allentown, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Clark University with a BA in biology, and completed her Doctor of Optometry degree from Pennsylvania College of Optometry. After graduating and establishing Sandler Eye Care in 1991, she took courses to be certified in the treatment and management of ocular disease and the use of oral pharmaceuticals. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Optometry. Doctors of Optometry who are certified by the American Board of Optometry have voluntarily committed to maintaining nationally recognized standards for education, knowledge and skills to provide the highest quality care. In 2022, Dr. Sandler was thrilled to merge Sandler Eye Care into the Premier Eye family.
Her professional areas of interest are specialty contact lenses, treatment of ocular disease, and pre/post LASIK and cataract care. Dr. Ferne lives in Voorhees and after 38 years considers South Jersey her home.
