Dr. Allison Wooten founded the practice in 2017 with the acquisition of Ironwood I Care, followed by the expansion into Excel Vision in 2020. A 2017 graduate, she was recognized by her peers and mentors with the graduating class clinical award for contact lenses.

Dr. Wooten specializes in medical eye care, with a deep focus on Dry Eye Center of Excellence protocols and scleral lens fitting. She is known for her hands-on approach to complex cases, often guiding patients through vision recovery and disability claims following complications from ill-fitting lenses elsewhere. Dr. Wooten is the only provider in the group who sees pediatric patients as young as two years old.

Patients choose Dr. Wooten for her exceptionally thorough exams, engaging communication, and personalized approach to eye care. She is frequently described as knowledgeable, energetic, and attentive, someone who listens closely and takes time to explain what she’s seeing and why it matters. 

Dr. Wooten is known for walking patients through test results and options in detail, tailoring recommendations to lifestyle, visual demands, and budget. Patients appreciate that appointments run efficiently and on time, while still feeling unrushed and highly individualized.

Dr. Nha Cao completed a residency in cornea and contact lenses. Like Dr. Wooten, she was a recipient of the clinical award from her graduating class for contact lenses, underscoring her expertise in specialty fits.

She serves as a primary provider for scleral lens patients. While she is primarily based at the Ironwood location, she also provides specialty care at the Excel office to ensure patients have access to advanced corneal solutions.

She is widely trusted for her thoughtful, thorough approach, especially when patients feel anxious or unsure about their eye health. Clinically, Dr. Cao has advanced expertise in specialty contact lenses, orthokeratology, and anterior segment care, making her a go-to doctor for patients with complex vision needs or specialty lens requirements. Patients value her ability to combine technical skill with compassion and clarity.

As the former owner of Desert View Vision East, he has long been a trusted provider in the North Phoenix community, known for building strong relationships with his patients and delivering consistent, high-quality care.

Focused on Everyday Vision Needs

Dr. Meek specializes in comprehensive eye exams and routine vision care, helping patients maintain clear, comfortable vision over time. His efficient, detail-oriented approach ensures that visits run smoothly while still providing the attention and care each patient deserves.

Our North Phoenix office has relocated. Dr. Greg Meek is now seeing patients at our Excel location in Scottsdale.

Dr. Molly Balbierz is a dedicated optometrist with a strong focus on ocular disease and advanced dry eye care. She recently joined NuVision Centers at the Excel location, where she leads the Dry Eye Clinic.

Education & Clinical Training

Dr. Balbierz earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Niagara University before completing her Doctor of Optometry degree at Midwestern University – Arizona College of Optometry. She graduated with Beta Sigma Kappa honors and received both the Excellence in Low Vision Award and Clinical Honors, reflecting her commitment to clinical excellence and patient care.

During her training, she focused heavily on ocular disease and post-operative care in OD/MD settings, building a strong foundation in managing conditions such as diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma.

Research & Professional Involvement

While at Midwestern, Dr. Balbierz participated in sports vision research studying visual performance during a full golf swing. Her work was selected for presentation at the American Academy of Optometry meeting.

She is also an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Arizona Optometric Association.

Specialty Focus

Dr. Balbierz provides comprehensive dry eye treatment using a multi-faceted approach tailored to each patient. Her treatment options include autologous serum tears, IPL, radiofrequency (TempSure), amniotic membrane placement, and punctal plugs—allowing her to address even the most complex cases.

She is especially passionate about helping patients who have struggled to find relief. Many of her most meaningful patient experiences come from working with individuals who believed their symptoms were something they had to live with.

Life Outside the Office

Outside of optometry, Dr. Balbierz enjoys yoga, Pilates, and playing golf. She also loves spending time with her puppy, Josie, exploring the Phoenix area, and cheering on her favorite football team—Go Bills!

Dr. Kelsey Harraghy is an Arizona native, born and raised in Phoenix, and brings a lifelong connection to eye care into her work at NuVision Centers. Her passion for optometry began early, after receiving her first pair of glasses at just three years old from her father, a now-retired optometrist.

Education & Clinical Training

Dr. Harraghy earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from Midwestern University’s Arizona College of Optometry in Glendale, graduating in 2020. Her training included clinical rotations at multiple ocular disease-focused practices throughout Arizona, where she gained experience treating patients of all ages.

Focus on Ocular Disease & Preventive Care

Dr. Harraghy has a strong clinical interest in the management of ocular diseases, including macular degeneration, glaucoma, and dry eye syndrome. She is also a strong advocate for preventative eye care, helping patients stay ahead of changes in their vision.

A Commitment to Patient Education

A key part of Dr. Harraghy’s approach is patient education. She believes that when patients understand their eye health, they are better equipped to make informed decisions about their care. She takes the time to explain conditions clearly and ensure each patient feels confident in their treatment plan.

Dr. Sara Mailatyar is an optometrist who believes great eye care starts with making patients feel heard. Her approach is collaborative and centered on understanding your concerns, lifestyle, and goals before recommending a plan for your eye health.

She places a strong emphasis on patient education, explaining conditions and treatment options in relatable language so you can ask questions, understand your choices, and feel confident in your care.

Education & Experience

Dr. Mailatyar earned her Bachelor’s degree in Public Health from Arizona State University in 2019 and her Doctor of Optometry degree from Midwestern University’s Arizona College of Optometry in Glendale in 2026.

Her experience in optometry began before graduate school, with three years working as an optometric technician and optician. During her education at Midwestern, she also participated in dry eye research and developed a strong interest in medical optometry. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and regularly attends professional conferences to stay current with advances in eye care.

Dr. Mailatyar chose optometry because it allows her to care for people of all ages and backgrounds while helping preserve one of their most important senses: sight. One of her favorite moments is giving someone their first pair of glasses and seeing their reaction when the world suddenly comes into focus.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Mailatyar’s clinical interests include dry eye management, glaucoma, corneal disorders, retinal and posterior segment conditions, and medical optometry. She is committed to evidence-based recommendations and continued learning as new research and treatment options become available.

Beyond the Exam Room

Outside of optometry, Dr. Mailatyar enjoys hiking, live music, and watching Survivor. She looks forward to building lasting relationships with her patients and making a meaningful contribution to the community.
