Our Team
Dr. Gregory Barbush, O.D.
Dr. Gregory Barbush is an experienced optometrist at Levin Eyecare. He specializes in providing optical services, performing eye exams, and treating a wide range of eye diseases, including keratoconus, macular degeneration, and retinal issues.
EXPERIENCE
Gregory M. Barbush, O.D., graduated from James Madison University with a B.S. in Biology before earning his Bachelor of Vision Science and Doctor of Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University. During his clinical rotations, he specialized in the treatment and management of glaucoma, contact lenses, and pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing LASIK and cataract surgery.
Dr. Bao Le, O.D.
Bao Q. Le, O.D., is a well-rounded and skilled eye doctor. He provides exceptional ocular disease management and treatment care at our Perry Hall and Bel Air locations.
EXPERIENCE
Dr. Le grew up in Catonsville, later moved to Bel Air, and earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Maryland. He obtained a Doctor of Optometry from Salus University’s Pennsylvania College of Optometry, all while working as an optometric technician.
During his clinical rotations at Salus University, he gained experience in various settings, including private practices and the Baltimore VA, where he learned to diagnose and manage conditions like glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetes, dry eye, and other eye diseases. His dedication to comprehensive eye care sets him apart in his field and make him an exemplary addition to the Levin Eyecare team.
Dr. Sarice Lui, O.D.
Sarice Lui, O.D., is a skilled optometrist at Levin Eye Care. She provides exceptional eye care services to our patients at our Dundalk and Severna Park locations.
EXPERIENCE
Hailing from Maryland, Sarice has deep roots in the Montgomery County region. She completed her undergraduate studies in 2016 at the University of Maryland, earning a bachelor’s degree in history. Her professional path began when she worked at an optometry practice as an optometric technician, a role that fueled her aspiration to become an optometrist. Pursuing her goal, Dr. Lui enrolled in the Accelerated Scholars program at Salus University, Pennsylvania College of Optometry, where she earned her Doctor of Optometry in 2021.
Dr. Samantha Andreaggi, O.D.
Samantha R Andreaggi, O.D., is a talented eye doctor at Levin Eye Care. She provides exceptional patient care at our Perry Hall and Parkville, MD, offices.
EXPERIENCE
After completing her degree in Biology at Binghamton University in 2009, Dr. Andreaggi earned her Doctor of Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University in 2013. She’s proud to have worked with leading authorities in glaucoma, corneal disease, and neurology during her clinical rotations at Philadelphia’s Albert Einstein Hospital. She currently specializes in glaucoma treatment and management, contact lenses, dry eyes, and pre- and post-operative cataract care.
Dr. Clark Seyboth, O.D.
Clark Seyboth, O.D., is a compassionate and experienced eye doctor who brings decades of optometric experience to Levin Eyecare. He’s passionate about bringing clearer vision and healthier eyes to his community and looks forward to seeing patients in our Belvedere Square and Glyndon, MD, locations.
EXPERIENCE
Dr. Seyboth’s journey in optometry began when he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Loyola University Maryland in 1980. He continued his academic pursuits, earning a Doctor of Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1985.
Dr. Seyboth has honed his skills at various esteemed practices, including the Office of Dr. Jeff Goldstein & Associates and the Office of Dr. Kenneth Kisamore & Associates. He would later go on to open his own practice in 1992. Today, his expertise extends to general optometry, precise contact lens fitting, and the accurate diagnosis of various eye diseases at Levin Eyecare.
Dr. Tania Marcic, M.D.
Tania Marcic, M.D., is a skilled and dedicated eye surgeon at Levin Eyecare. She provides a wide range of ophthalmic services, including glaucoma and cataract surgery and macular degeneration treatment.
EXPERIENCE
Dr. Marcic received her medical degree from Albany Medical College and then finished an internship at Mount Sinai at Elmhurst Hospital Center. She then completed her residency in ophthalmology at St. Vincent Catholic Medical Centers in Queens, New York. She completed her training with a subspecialty fellowship in glaucoma at George Washington University.
Dr. Michael Sander, M.D.
Michael Sander, M.D., is a skilled ophthalmologist at Levin Eyecare who sees patients at our Pikesville and Glyndon locations. He offers a wide range of ophthalmology services, including management of eye diseases, such as glaucoma and macular degeneration, and retina and cataract treatment.
EXPERIENCE
A Baltimore native, Dr. Sandler finished his undergraduate studies at the University of Maryland, graduating magna cum laude. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, interning at Maryland General Hospital. He finished his residency program at the University of Maryland and is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is regarded as a leader in the field of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Jaclyn Coyner, O.D.
Dr. Jaclyn Coyner is a skilled and passionate optometrist at Levin Eyecare. She specializes in specialty contact lens fits, myopia control, and general optical services.
EXPERIENCE
Dr. Coyner earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Stevenson University before completing her Doctor of Optometry at Salus University Pennsylvania College of Optometry. During her time at Salus, she completed an Advanced Studies program in contact lenses and finished a MiSight certification, giving her more myopia management options for her patients. She stood out amongst her peers, receiving Honors for her work in clinical rotations for Primary Care Optometry, as well as several contact lens awards at graduation. Since then, Dr. Coyner has lent her skill and expertise as an eye doctor to the southern Baltimore area.
Dr. Fawziya Mirza, O.D.
Fawziya Mirza, O.D., is a skilled and passionate eye doctor at Levin Eyecare. She provides exceptional services to patients of all ages are our Glyndon and Westminster, MD, locations!
EXPERIENCE
Dr. Mirza earned her B.S. in Microbiology from the University of Maryland in 1992 and her Doctor of Optometry in 1996 from the New England College of Optometry. With over 26 years of experience, she practiced at Maple Lawn Eye Care before joining Levin Eyecare. She has contributed as a consultative optometrist for Helen Keller’s Child Sight program and is now a consultant for Vision to Learn, a nonprofit providing eye care to underserved kids in Baltimore. Dr. Mirza specializes in comprehensive eye care, including conditions like dry eye syndrome, cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. She’s also an expert in fitting specialty contact lenses for various needs.
Dr. Ronald Surdin, O.D.
Ronald Surdin, O.D., is an accomplished eye doctor at Levin Eye Care. He serves patients at our Parkville and Glyndon, MD, locations.
EXPERIENCE
Dr. Surdin earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Maryland and his Doctor of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry. To further advance his education, Dr. Surdin pursued a master’s degree in education from Johns Hopkins University. Over the next 35 years, he would go on to establish his own private practice and diligently serve the communities of Baltimore City, Baltimore County, and Carroll County. Dr. Surdin’s expertise lies in the specialized fields of contact lens treatment and management, as well as comprehensive care for pre- and post-operative LASIK and cataract procedures.
Dr. Ismail Shalaby, M.D., PhD
Ismail Shalaby, M.D., Ph.D. is a Board-Certified ophthalmologist and cataract surgeon at Levin Eyecare. Dr. Shalaby uses the most advanced and up to date techniques in cataract surgery including LASER ASSISTED, Clear Cornea Topical (no injection) no stitch surgery. He uses the most advanced lens implants to achieve GLASSES FREE OUTCOMES AFTER CATARACT SURGERY. Dr. Shalaby is also trained to manage and treat a range of other eye conditions, including Glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, dry eye disease, and age-related macular degeneration.
EXPERIENCE
Dr. Shalaby earned his Doctor of Medicine at The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and then finished his ophthalmology residency at the Jonas Friedenwald Eye Institute at the University of Maryland. He also earned his PhD in Pharmacology from The University of Chicago.
In addition to his experience and training, Dr. Shalaby is also certified to utilize the latest advancements in glaucoma treatment by using micro-stents in combination with cataract surgery. He is also a dry eye specialist and has earned a certification from the Dry Eye Center of Excellence to use intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy to treat and manage dry eye symptoms that are caused by blockage of the meibomian glands.
Dr. Shalaby is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Maryland where he teaches Residents and Medical students Ophthalmology. He is also involved in Clinical Research and has published over 80 Papers and Abstracts, as well as Books and Book Chapters.
Dr. Richard Gruen, M.D.
Richard Gruen, M.D., is an experienced eye surgeon at Levin Eyecare. He is especially talented at performing glaucoma and cataract surgery.
EXPERIENCE
Dr. Gruen earned his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and completed his residency in ophthalmology at Sinai Hospital. Afterwards, he completed an Anterior Segment and YAG Laser fellowship at St. Luke’s Cataract & IOL Clinic in New Port Richie, Florida. He’s worked in private practice ever since, practicing in the Pikesville and Owings Mill area for more than 35 years, including as owner of the Gruen Eye Center in Owings Mills.
Dr. Jennifer Stone, O.D.
Dr. Jennifer L. Stone earned her Bachelor of Science in Human Biology from Michigan State University, graduating With Honors. She received her Doctor of Optometry at Pennsylvania College of Optometry and graduated with distinction including numerous awards for her clinical and academic performance.
Dr. Stone completed her residency in ocular disease at the Baltimore Veterans Affairs Hospital, where she trained with faculty from the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins Hospital in several sub-specialties: glaucoma, retina, and corneal health.
Dr. Stone has cultivated a keen interest in research studies and published on topics from exploring novel medication delivery systems, isolating a genetic link for glaucoma and educating patients and eye care providers about eye drop compliance and adherence. Dr. Stone has also traveled to Madurai, India to lecture, teach and assist in developing a new optometry curriculum for the Aravind Eye Hospitals, the largest self-sufficient eye care system in the world.
Dr. Stone cares for patients with all types of eye conditions her primary focus is glaucoma. Prior to joining Levin Eyecare in 2011, Dr. Stone practiced privately in a dedicated glaucoma practice and work in affiliation with the Ophthalmology Department at Mercy Hospital. Dr. Stone has been in practice for nearly 20 years diagnosing and treating all forms of eye disease.
Dr. Eric Walker, O.D.
Eric Y. Walker, O.D., is an exceptional eye doctor at Levin Eyecare. He provides detailed and compassionate care to patients in our Perry Hall, Glyndon, and Pikeville, MD, offices!
EXPERIENCE
In 1982, Dr. Walker earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Western Maryland College. He received his Bachelor of Vision Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University in 1986. Dr. Walker’s professional journey encompassed a two-year tenure at Sears Optical, followed by a remarkable 25-year ownership and operation of his independent practice, Randallstown Family Eyecare. His extensive background includes a distinguished service period in the United States Navy, during which he was honored with the Navy Distinguished Service Medal for his exceptional contributions.
Dr. Joseph DeRose, O.D.
Dr. Joseph DeRose is a highly experienced optometrist at Levin Eyecare. He specializes in primary care and optical laser surgery.
EXPEREINCE
Dr. Joseph L. DeRose O.D., M.S., graduated with honors from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, earning both his Masters in Vision Rehabilitation and his Doctor of Optometry. While working in the Low Vision Department at John Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute, he helped successfully amend Maryland state regulations to better serve the visually impaired who were driving with a modified state license.
Dr. DeRose has spent many years performing pre- and post-operative exams for cataract and refractive laser surgery. He also worked at Mercy Hospital in Baltimore, both as a practicing eye doctor and instructor of clinical skills. Now he works in primary care at Levin Eyecare.
Dr. Karl Malicdem, O.D.
EXPERIENCE
Dr. Malicdem obtained his Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA. His strong bond with the Greater Baltimore area began with his 1999 B.S. in Biology from Towson University, and he pursued a minor in Spanish at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
Dr. Malicdem’s journey into optometry began while at Towson University, he worked part-time at Dr. Goldstein and Associates of Owings Mills Mall. This experience ignited his passion for optometry, eventually leading him to become the head ophthalmic technician at the Mercy Hospital clinic of the Katzen Eye Group.
Throughout his career, Dr. Malicdem pursued internships at Upham’s Corner and the Dorchester House Community Health Centers in Boston, MA, as well as the Veterans Administration and the Wilmer Eye Clinic at Johns Hopkins Hospitals in Baltimore, MD. He remains committed to staying current in the dynamic field of optometry through ongoing education.
His extensive professional experience includes owning his own private practice, All Eyes on You Eye Care, LLC, in collaboration with For Eyes/Grand Vision in Nottingham, MD.
Dr. Malicdem has organized mission trips to Barahona, the Dominican Republic, and Chetumal, Mexico, with grants from Lion’s Club International. He has also supported the Maryland Optometric Association in the advancement of the profession as they won a long legislative battle to increase their scope of practice by the year 2020.
Dr. Carl Waxman, O.D.
Carl M. Waxman, O.D., is an experienced and skilled eye doctor who brings more than 38 years of optometric experience to our practice. He serves patients at our Westminster, MD, office.
EXPERIENCE
Dr. Waxman’s journey began with his undergraduate studies at the University of Maryland-College Park until 1974, when he secured early acceptance to the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. There, he earned his Bachelor of Science in 1975 and his Doctor of Optometry in 1978. His clinical training included internships at Kimbrough Army Hospital-Fort Meade, various P.C.O. clinics, and private optometry practices.
Following his graduation, Dr. Waxman served as a staff optometrist at the Katzen Eye Group with privileges at Mercy Hospital. He also worked at the Bon Secours Hospital Eye Clinic from 1979 to 2001 and at Penn Optical from 1981 to 2001. During this time, he held the position of Chief of Optometry at the Washington Village Medical Center from 1991 to 1995.
In 2001, Dr. Waxman embarked on an independent optometric career with Cole Vision, later Luxottica, situated within Sears Optical. He further contributed his expertise as a member of the Optometric Advisory Council for Luxottica for over five years.
