Our Team
Dr. Ismail Shalaby, M.D., PhD
Ismail Shalaby, M.D., Ph.D. is a Board-Certified ophthalmologist and cataract surgeon at Levin Eyecare. Dr. Shalaby uses the most advanced and up to date techniques in cataract surgery including LASER ASSISTED, Clear Cornea Topical (no injection) no stitch surgery. He uses the most advanced lens implants to achieve GLASSES FREE OUTCOMES AFTER CATARACT SURGERY. Dr. Shalaby is also trained to manage and treat a range of other eye conditions, including Glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, dry eye disease, and age-related macular degeneration.
EXPERIENCE
Dr. Shalaby earned his Doctor of Medicine at The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and then finished his ophthalmology residency at the Jonas Friedenwald Eye Institute at the University of Maryland. He also earned his PhD in Pharmacology from The University of Chicago.
In addition to his experience and training, Dr. Shalaby is also certified to utilize the latest advancements in glaucoma treatment by using micro-stents in combination with cataract surgery. He is also a dry eye specialist and has earned a certification from the Dry Eye Center of Excellence to use intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy to treat and manage dry eye symptoms that are caused by blockage of the meibomian glands.
Dr. Shalaby is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Maryland where he teaches Residents and Medical students Ophthalmology. He is also involved in Clinical Research and has published over 80 Papers and Abstracts, as well as Books and Book Chapters.
Dr. Jennifer Stone, O.D.
Dr. Jennifer L. Stone earned her Bachelor of Science in Human Biology from Michigan State University, graduating With Honors. She received her Doctor of Optometry at Pennsylvania College of Optometry and graduated with distinction including numerous awards for her clinical and academic performance.
Dr. Stone completed her residency in ocular disease at the Baltimore Veterans Affairs Hospital, where she trained with faculty from the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins Hospital in several sub-specialties: glaucoma, retina, and corneal health.
Dr. Stone has cultivated a keen interest in research studies and published on topics from exploring novel medication delivery systems, isolating a genetic link for glaucoma and educating patients and eye care providers about eye drop compliance and adherence. Dr. Stone has also traveled to Madurai, India to lecture, teach and assist in developing a new optometry curriculum for the Aravind Eye Hospitals, the largest self-sufficient eye care system in the world.
Dr. Stone cares for patients with all types of eye conditions her primary focus is glaucoma. Prior to joining Levin Eyecare in 2011, Dr. Stone practiced privately in a dedicated glaucoma practice and work in affiliation with the Ophthalmology Department at Mercy Hospital. Dr. Stone has been in practice for nearly 20 years diagnosing and treating all forms of eye disease.
Dr. Tania Marcic, M.D.
Tania Marcic, M.D., is a skilled and dedicated eye surgeon at Levin Eyecare. She provides a wide range of ophthalmic services, including glaucoma and cataract surgery and macular degeneration treatment.
EXPERIENCE
Dr. Marcic received her medical degree from Albany Medical College and then finished an internship at Mount Sinai at Elmhurst Hospital Center. She then completed her residency in ophthalmology at St. Vincent Catholic Medical Centers in Queens, New York. She completed her training with a subspecialty fellowship in glaucoma at George Washington University.
Dr. Jamie Choi, M.D.
Dr. Choi earned her medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center, where she served as academic chief. She then completed a cornea fellowship at the University of Maryland, focusing on corneal surgery and transplantation.
In addition to her clinical expertise, Dr. Choi has authored numerous scientific articles and book chapters and has presented her work nationally, contributing to advancements in ophthalmic care. She combines precision, evidence-based medicine, and compassionate, patient-centered care to ensure that every patient understands their options and receives the best possible outcomes.
