Dr. Ian D. Baron & Associates

Dr. Karen Louie completed her Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences and later graduated with Dean’s Honour distinction from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry in 2010.  During her clinical studies, she interned at the Eye Foundation of Utah in Salt Lake City, where she was trained extensively in the diagnosis and management of ocular diseases including glaucoma, retinal pathologies, and corneal disease.  She was also involved in diabetic retinopathy screenings for the elderly at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.   

Dr. Louie greatly enjoys getting to know her patients, and is committed to providing thorough eye care, while addressing questions in a relaxed environment.  She looks forward to welcoming patients, new and old, to the clinic.

Dr. Louie is currently a member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists, Canadian Association of Optometrists, and the College of Optometrists of Ontario. 

Dr. Briana Baron grew up in Ajax, ON and has recently returned to Durham Region after graduating from Illinois College of Optometry in 2018. She completed an Honours Bachelor of Science degree at University of Toronto with a double major in Human Biology and Psychology in 2014. She knew she wanted to be an optometrist from a young age, and was volunteering and working in optometry clinics since she was in high school.

Dr. Baron was a first place poster contest winner at the Global Specialty Lens Symposium in Las Vegas in 2018 for her case study on orthokeratology and myopia control in twins. During her optometric education she completed clinical rotations at the Boston – Jamaica Plains Veteran Affairs clinic, a busy family practice in Surrey, BC, and in two different pediatric clinics in Chicago, Illinois, and Carlsbad, California where she worked closely with children with a variety of visual needs. She is board certified in both Canada and the United States.

Dr. Baron enjoys travelling, and has volunteered in Guatemala with a group of eye care providers to provide eye exams and eye wear to underserviced areas. In her spare time, she enjoys drawing, playing the piano, and spending time with family. Dr. Baron looks forward to providing comprehensive eye care to patients of all ages in Durham Region!

Dr. Ian D. Baron graduated with a B.Sc. in 1982, and completed his Optometry Degree in 1986, both from the University of Waterloo.

Dr. Baron has been practicing comprehensive optometry and servicing residents in Greater Toronto and neighbouring areas since 1986.
