Dr. Qiong Chen grew up in China, where she earned her MD and Master’s degree in a scientific discipline from the Medical College of Nanchang University in 2008. She relocated to the United States 15 years ago and continued her education at the State University of New York College of Optometry, graduating with honors in 2017 with her Doctor of Optometry degree.

Since 2008, Dr. Chen has received specialized training in cataract and glaucoma management and has expanded her expertise in the U.S. as an optometrist, serving diverse patient populations. She is a current member of the American Optometric Association (AOA) and the American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control (AAOMC), and is recognized as a Certified Expert of the International Association of Contact Lens and Myopia Management (IACMM). In addition, she is the founder of Seesaw Eye Clinic.

Dr. Chen is passionate about improving patients’ quality of life through better vision. She is especially recognized for her work in myopia management and dry eye disease, specialties that allow her to combine clinical expertise with compassionate, long-term care. Her fascination with the visual system and her desire to make a tangible difference in people’s daily lives drive her to expand her knowledge and skills.

Community service is also at the heart of Dr. Chen’s work. She volunteers with the Tzu Chi Foundation, providing free eye exams and screenings at multiple clinics for low-income communities. She also co-founded Eyehope with her daughter, an initiative dedicated to offering free vision screenings and glasses for underserved children and families, with the mission of ensuring that every child in need has access to clear vision.

Outside of work, Dr. Chen enjoys hiking with her daughters, Olivia and Chloe, and their toy poodle, Easton. She also loves movies and cherishes quality time with her family. A survivor of her beloved husband, Dr. Chen is deeply proud of her role as a mother and caregiver, which inspires her commitment to serving families in her community with the same compassion she brings to her own.

Dr. Robert Messinger is an honors graduate of the SUNY College of Optometry. His particular expertise lies in contact lens and eyewear fitting, ocular health examinations and low vision therapies and devices. He continues the tradition of a long line of esteemed optometrists at the location, which began in 1923. Dr. Messinger serves as the Clinical Director of the Helen Keller Services for the Blind in New York City.
