Dr. Troy White Eyecare

Dr. Troy White’s journey into optometry began when he was just eight years old. Sitting in an eye doctor’s waiting room for his very first exam, his father leaned over and said, “Troy, you should be an eye doctor.” That simple moment, combined with a positive experience during his exam, set the course for his life. 

• Education: Graduated with honors from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga 
• Doctor of Optometry: Earned from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1999 
• Early Career: Joined Dr. Mark Kapperman’s practice in the Hamilton Place area, where together they grew one of Chattanooga’s largest privately owned optometry practices 

Through more than two decades of serving patients, Dr. White embraced the philosophy that eye care is about more than vision — it’s about caring for people as whole individuals. 

Dr. White's Professional Journey in Chattanooga

In the fall of 2023, Dr. White founded Dr. Troy White Eyecare to bring his vision for patient care to life. His goal is to combine modern technology with a welcoming approach, ensuring each patient’s visit is both thorough and comfortable. His focus includes: 

• High-quality Eye Care Services like myopia management, dry eye treatment, and pediatric eye care 
• Advanced technology for accurate, efficient eye exams 
• Simple, stress-free visits designed around patient comfort 
• Personalized care that supports long-term eye and overall health  

Dr. White continues to study advancements in optometry and wellness, always seeking new ways to better serve his community at Chattanooga. 

Medical Missions & Community Impact 

Dr. White’s passion for helping others extends far beyond the exam room. While still in optometry school, he participated in his first medical mission trip, which inspired his lifelong commitment to serving people both locally and globally. 

Global Outreach 

Over the years, Dr. White has traveled extensively to bring vision care to communities that might otherwise lack access. His mission work has taken him to countries including:

• El Salvador
• St. Lucia
• Trinidad
• Uganda
• Ecuador
• Brazil

Local Service 

In Chattanooga, Dr. White was a founding member of Volunteers in Medicine (VIM), a nonprofit dedicated to providing healthcare for underserved individuals and families. His work reflects his belief that quality care should be accessible to everyone. 

Dr. White's Personal Life & Interests 

At home, Dr. White and his wife, Melissa, share a love for health, wellness, and lifelong learning. Together, they enjoy staying active and exploring new approaches to healthy living, often sharing their knowledge with others. They are proud parents of three adult children — Annie, Anderson, and Coleman. In his free time, Dr. White enjoys: 

• Running, fitness, and mountain biking 
• Traveling and exploring new places 
• Outdoor adventures and active pursuits 

Guided by his faith, Dr. White believes that true health encompasses the body, mind, and spirit. His passion is helping people reach their full potential and live the life they are meant to enjoy.
