Our Team
Dr. Torrey Carlson
Dr. Carlson was born and raised in Escanaba, Michigan. He married his wife Amy in 1995 and they have four children Masey, Lizzie, Allie, and Jack and an Irish setter named Sadie. They moved to East Tennessee just out of school in 1995.
EDUCATION:
Dr. Carlson attended Ferris State University and received a Bachelor of Science in Vision Science. He then attended the Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University, graduating in 1995. His Externships included working at the VA’s in Fort Wayne and Marion Indiana, Eglin AFB’s Optometry Clinic, and a Detroit Medicaid Clinic. He is always attending continuing education classes and seminars to stay current with the newest treatments and up-to-date technology. He is continually seeking the latest technologies in the treatment, management and prevention of ocular diseases such as Glaucoma, Diabetes, Age Related Macular Degeneration, Cataracts and other ocular pathology. He has over 29 years of experience in co-managing LASIK, PRK, and cataract surgery. He has provided eye care to well over 150,000 people in his career.
WORK HISTORY:
He started with LensCrafters in Knoxville as an associate doctor in 1995. In 2003, he moved to the Tri-Cities area and took the Doctor’s leases in LensCrafters in Johnson City and Kingsport. He in time expanded to the Turkey Creek area of Knoxville which was opened in April of 2005. In 2016, Dr. Carlson added two more locations: one in Bristol, Tennessee/Virginia and one at the West Town Mall in Knoxville. Additional offices have been acquired in East Knoxville (Harvest Park), Hixon (Northgate) and Chattanooga(Hamilton Place), TN.
Dr. Carlson was appointed to the State Optometry Board in 2015. He also has lectured for Alcon, Luxottica Vision Care, and Johnson and Johnson Vision Care. He has consulted with various other contact lens companies. He has been involved in marketing research for new contact lens product launches. He serves on the Optometry Advisory Council at LensCrafters. He is a board member of the ALLDOCS doctor's group. He mentors area students interested in Optometry as a profession.
HOBBIES:
Includes spending time with family, boating, traveling, watches, antiques, reading, exercising, basketball, and is an avid sports fan- Go ETSU Bucs, Detroit sports teams, and Go Big Orange!
Dr. Kaylin Pierce
BIOGRAPHY:
Kaylin Pierce, OD, is a full-scope therapeutic optometrist in Chattanooga, TN. Dr. Pierce is married to her wonderful husband and they have one beautiful daughter.
EDUCATION:
Dr. Pierce graduated with honors from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, before earning her Doctorate of Optometry from University of Alabama in Birmingham, AL. During her time at University of Alabama in Birmingham, she served as the Student Government Association President while staying active in many student organizations.
WORK HISTORY:
Following graduation, Dr. Pierce completed a residency program in Ocular Disease and Low Vision from the Lake City, Florida VA Medical Center. Dr. Pierce is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the American Academy of Optometry. She cares deeply for her patients and her practice philosophy is to “treat each patient like family.”
HOBBIES:
In her spare time, she enjoys running, traveling, cooking, and spending time with her family.
Dr. Robert Patterson
Dr Robert Patterson
Dr. Patterson was born in Yazoo City, Mississippi. He married his wife Tammy in 1989 and they have 6 grown children. After optometry school, Dr. Patterson served a tour in the U.S. Army, before moving to Chattanooga, TN.
EDUCATION:
Dr. Patterson graduated in 1989 from The Citadel in Charleston, SC with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He then attended Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN and graduated in 1993.
WORK HISTORY:
Dr. Patterson served as an optometrist in the U.S. Army from 1993-1997. Once he relocated to Chattanooga, TN in 1997 he purchased a private practice in Red Bank. Over the last 25 years Dr Patterson has worked in conjunction with several of the area’s premier ophthalmologist including a LASIK surgery center, corneal specialist office, and provided pre-op and post-op care at some of the leading ophthalmology practices in Chattanooga. In addition, Dr. Patterson provides eye and vision care to several area nursing homes, allowing the underserved geriatric population to receive much-needed services.
He joined the Carlson EyeCare Centers in 2024.
HOBBIES:
Spending time with his family, traveling, fishing, church activities, and all things Tennessee Volunteers!
Dr. Brian Post
Dr. Post was born and raised in Tallahassee, FL. He has been married sine 2012 and has 4 young children.
EDUCATION:
Dr. Brian Post graduated with a degree in Sociology from Samford University. He then obtained his doctorate from the Southern College of Optometry in 2020.
WORK:
Dr. Post began working for Dr. Carlson and Associates in January of 2022.
HOBBIES:
In his spare time, he enjoys playing disc golf and watching Florida State football.
Dr. Daniel Stacy
Dr. Daniel Stacy
Dr. Stacy is a Middle Tennessee native who grew up in Franklin with his younger brother and sister. He met his lovely wife Hannah while doing his undergraduate degree. In search of beautiful mountains and sweeping river valleys, they moved with their two fur babies in tow to call Chattanooga their new home.
Education:
He attended Tennessee Tech University for his undergraduate Biology degree. Dr. Stacy is a graduate of the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN.
Work History:
As a part of his training at Southern College of Optometry, Dr Stacy saw patients at the SCO Eye Center for over a year and performed two semester long externships: one at SouthEast Eye Specialists of Chattanooga and one at the local private practice Kapperman, White, and McGarvey. He is experienced with a wide variety of ocular disease including glaucoma and macular degeneration but excels at glasses and contact lens fittings as well. Dr. Stacy’s passion in life is developing meaningful relationships with patients, and works hard every day to serve the vision needs of members of the Chattanooga community and beyond.
He Joined Carlson Eyecare Centers in May 2023.
Hobbies:
Dr. Dan is an avid music enthusiast and musician who enjoys scenic hikes and afternoons spent on the water. You can find him grabbing a bite to eat at River Drifters after kayaking Suck Creek or on the trails of Prentice Cooper Forest searching for that perfect sunset photo.
