Positive, energetic and compassionate, Dr. Nancy Torgerson’s passion is to help those that struggle needlessly in school, work, sports and/or life because of visual difficulties. She works extensively with children and adults who have challenges in learning or vision information processing, special needs and/or brain injuries.

In 2019, her practice, Alderwood Vision Therapy Center, celebrated its 35th year of serving patients in the Seattle area. With an emphasis in behavioral optometry and vision therapy, her practice strives to live up to its motto of, “Transforming Lives Through Vision”. Her team of vision therapists, patient care coordinators, and doctors love the challenges that come with treating children and adults with learning related vision problems and special needs.

Dr. Torgerson is a graduate of Pacific University’s College of Optometry and is a Fellow and past President of the international College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD). She has been the chairman of the Washington State Board of Optometry and the Optometric Extension Program’s National Chairman of Regional Clinical Seminars. She has received numerous awards for her work, including COVD’s Presidents Award and Outstanding Young Woman in America Award. An adjunct professor at Pacific University College of Optometry, she is a frequent lecturer and consultant to educators, rehabilitation and therapy providers, sports teams and other eye care professionals.

Passionate, dependable, and sincere, Dr. Youngblood strives to improve her patients’ quality of life through vision and learning. Her goal is to help children and adults alike build their visual and eye teaming skills through vision therapy to propel their success in school, work, and life.

Born and raised in Texas, Dr. Youngblood graduated with honors from the University of Houston College of Optometry. During her time there, she was active in organizations and served as president of the Student American Academy of Optometry and treasurer for Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society. She received the Good-Lite Excellence in Pediatrics award upon graduating. Dr. Youngblood recently moved to Washington and is excited to be a part of AVTC’s dedicated team of doctors and therapists.

In her free time, Dr. Youngblood loves attending concerts, traveling with her husband, and spoiling their dog Chi Chi.

Dr. Ciara McCaffrey strives to provide comprehensive and personable care to her patients. She received her Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry with honors from the University of California, San Diego, and her Doctorate of Optometry with honors from the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry. Dr. McCaffrey recently moved to Washington after completing a residency in Vision Therapy and Rehabilitation at the State University of New York College of Optometry.

Dr. McCaffrey enjoys helping patients with a variety of eye-teaming and focusing issues, including conditions that emerge during childhood, adulthood, or secondary to acquired brain injury. During her free time she likes to explore the Pacific Northwest with her husband.

Dr. Bhavjit Mangat is a compassionate and enthusiastic doctor. She was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois and has lived in the Pacific Northwest since she was in 5th grade. Dr. Mangat earned her Bachelors of Science degree in Biology from the University of Washington. She later went on to earn her Doctorate of Optometry from MCPHS University, College of Optometry in Worcester, Massachusetts. 

During her time at MCPHS University, she was involved with numerous groups and organizations, serving as secretary and fundraising chair for SAAO and ISO, respectively. She organized and was a part many vision screenings throughout her years at MCPHS University as well as fundraisers.

Her passion is to help those in need, especially those individuals that tend to struggle in school, work, sports and/or life because of their difficulties with vision. Dr. Mangat loves to work with individuals of all ages and is dedicated to vision therapy and helping her patients strive not only in school/work but in their personal life.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and her 2 puppies, Simba and Charlie. She also loves to cook, play volleyball
