    Dr. Sameer Patel has extensive clinical experience in pediatrics, ocular disease, binocular vision, geriatrics, contact lens fitting, low vision, pre and post-operative care for LASIK and cataracts and primary care optometry. His interests in the field of optometry include pediatric optometry, diabetes and macular degeneration, computer vision syndrome, contact lens fitting and sports vision.


    He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree at Nova Southeastern University and his Honours Bachelor of Science in human biology at the University of Toronto. While at Nova Southeastern University he also earned a second Bachelor of Science degree in Vision Science and received the Module Director’s Award for clinical excellence in the area of primary optometric care.


    He is an active member of the College of Optometrists of Ontario and the Ontario Association of Optometrists. Dr. Patel is proud to be serving his local community in Ajax. He was born in Belleville and raised in Pickering, ON.​

    Dr. Nina Gupta has extensive clinical experience in pediatrics, ocular disease, binocular vision, geriatrics, contact lens fitting, pre and post-operative care for LASIK and cataracts, and primary care optometry. Her interests include ocular disease prevention, computer vision syndrome, dry eye, nutrition, glaucoma and pediatrics. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree at Nova Southeastern University and her Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from McMaster University. While at Nova Southeastern University, she also earned a second Bachelor of Science degree in Vision Science and graduated with honours as part of Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honour Society. ​ Dr. Gupta is an active member of the College of Optometrists of Ontario and the Ontario Association of Optometrists. Born in Toronto and raised in Richmond Hill, she is passionate about keeping eyes healthy and is proud to be serving the Ajax community.

    Dr. Nelly Tieu comes to Ajax Family Eye Care with an Honours Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences and Doctor of Optometry from the University of Waterloo where she graduated on the Dean's Honours List. She is a member of the College of Optometrists of Ontario, Ontario Association of Optometrists and the Canadian Association of Optometrists. She specializes in Dry Eye treatment and Contact Lens Fitting. Dr. Tieu was born in Toronto and raised in Markham and was drawn to become an eye doctor from an early age. She was always interested in health care and was particularly fascinated about optometry whenever she had her eyes checked growing up. What drew her into optometry was that you could tell the general health of a patient just by looking at their eyes. Her favorite patient story comes from early in her career: “I had a patient come in with pain in his eye, he had been doing some welding and got a metal foreign body in that eye which was treated at the hospital. During the exam, I discovered that he had a metal foreign body in his other eye as well, which he did not know about because he did not feel it. I was able to remove it and provide treatment to help with the pain and healing of both eyes. The patient was glad that he had come in for a more thorough check and avoided any complications with having metal left in his eye.” Outside of work she enjoys playing board games, snowboarding and cheering on the Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leafs with her family and friends.
