Dr. Orfield is board certified in vision therapy for children and adults by the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD) of which she is a Fellow (FCOVD). She also worked ten years in the pediatric/binocular vision rotation at the New England Eye Institute (as a clinical preceptor for the New England College of Optometry).
As the chief investigator of the Boston Mather School Inner-City Vision and Learning Project, Dr. Orfield was the Director of a six year research project on children's vision and school work. The results of this study were published in Fall, 2001 Journal of Optometric Vision Development and are mentioned in this Harvard Graduate School report.
